There’s a bit of history at stake for the CBU women this weekend. The Lancers are four wins away from being the 24th team in 29 years and seven presidential administrations to complete an undefeated regular season and potentially win a conference tournament. Part one of that quest is a trip to the Pacific Northwest and a visit to Seattle. The Redhawks lost three of their last four games between series against Grand Canyon and New Mexico State.

Series History: CBU leads the series 3-1. Last time out against Seattle, the Lancers prevailed 90-79 at the Redhawk Center.
By the Numbers
*In two trips to Seattle, the Lancers average scoring 88 points per game and give up just over 71. CBU shot 65-139 (46.8%) from the field and 28-65 (43.1%) beyond the arc. Meanwhile, Seattle shot 55-142 (38.7%) and 15-51 (29.4%) on threes.
*So far in 2020-’21, the Lancers are averaging a 15.5 PPG margin of victory in two road Friday contests against WAC opponents. Their road cumulative margin of victory in four games of WAC play is just over 16 PPG.
*CBU is 20-0 overall and 12-0 in WAC play. The Lancers are are No. 8 in the collegeinsider.com mid-major Top-25 poll. And the Lancers have already won the WAC regular season title.
Keys to the Series
Can Seattle match the Lancers offensively?
Looking at the stats the Redhawks have four players averaging double figure scoring. However they have struggled in two of their last three Friday contests not reaching 50 points in either contest. They did put up 84 two weeks ago in an OT loss to UTRGV at home.
Finish what you started…
There’s a date with history at stake for the Lancers coming off of this bye even with the regular season championship & tournament #1 seed secured. An undefeated regular season would undoubtedly give CBU a high seed for any WNIT appearance in that tournament’s 32 team field.
Good starts…
CBU has gotten off to good starts in three of their four road matchups. They fell behind in Saturday’s game at Tarleton State 11-0 before moving on and prevailing by 23. Set the tone early for a successful weekend.
Prediction
I see a high scoring series between these two teams with CBU entering #WACVegas coming off a sweep of Seattle on the road.
